Obituary

Carolyn Ann Everett Hicks, 82, of Jackson, TN passed away peacefully into the arms of
Jesus, with family surrounding her, on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Jackson – Madison
County General Hospital. She was born on December, 1, 1942 to William Freeman Everett
and Roseay Lee Smith. Carolyn was a loving step daughter , sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother , and aunt.
Carolyn was a very strong lady with her love for Jesus and shined through all her life. Her
work career started at a Western Auto Store and the last 10 years before her retirement
was spent at the University of Alabama in the Math Department as an Administrative
Assistant. She loved working with the students, professors, and dean daily. After her
retirement, Carolyn moved to Jackson, TN where she loved on her two grandsons, working
with her plants, watching Alabama Football & LSU Football and softball games. She was
active in the Tuscaloosa community by volunteering time and energy with the Capstone
Civitan Club and also being an advisor of the Campus Civitan Club at the University of
Alabama, to causes that uplifted others. From organizing events to serving on boards and
committees, her unwavering commitment inspired those around them to do the same.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Freeman and Roseay Lee Smith, and her
brother, Robert Nathan Everett.
She is survived by her stepmom, Mary Everett, Port Gibson, MS, her brother, William F.
“Bill” Everett (Anne) Tampa, FL, two daughters, Tina Heath, Jackson, TN, Lisa
Abercrombie, (son in law Trippi), Auburn, AL, two grandsons, Don Heath, Jackson, TN,
and Dale Heath (daughter in law Hailey) Jackson, TN and two great grandsons, Ryker
Daniel Heath and Archer James Heath, one nephew, Trey Everett, Tampa, FL.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, surgeons, from ICU to the Hospice
Floor at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Heartfelt thanks also to Dr. Kimberly
Howerton.
As we gather to say goodbye, let us hold onto the laughter, the lessons, and the love. Each
life is a story, and though this chapter has ended, its impact will be felt for generations to
come. In honoring her memory, we reaffirm our commitment to living with purpose and
compassion, carrying forward the torch she has passed to us.
May she rest in peace, knowing her legacy is secure in the hearts of all who knew and
cherished her.
A private family viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 11:00 am at
Affordable Funerals and Cremation Services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or
Civitan International , P. O. Box 382857 Birmingham, AL. 35238 or to your favorite
charity in their memory.

Though they have departed from this world, Carolyn will be deeply missed, her story
continues – etched in our memories, illuminated by the love she so freely gave, and carried
onward in the lives of her family and all who knew her.

Interment will be at Christ Church Cemetery, located in Bastrop LA.
